Like many young people, I spent years searching for purpose.
Born in Burundi and raised in refugee camps in Tanzania, I experienced firsthand how circumstances can shape a child's future. Yet through every chapter of my life, one thing remained constant — sport.
Not because everyone should become a professional athlete, but because sport gave me something far more valuable: confidence, belonging, discipline and hope.
As I began working with young people, I realised something.
The problem wasn't a lack of talent.
The problem was a lack of opportunity.
Some children simply need someone who believes in them. That question stayed with me.
How can we create opportunities for young people to discover what they're capable of?
That question became Giraneza Collective.
The name Giraneza comes from Kirundi and Kinyarwanda. It means "Do Good." Growing up, we were taught that a person's name should reflect the way they live — a value passed down through generations to leave every community better than you found it.
That belief continues to guide everything we do.
Because talent exists everywhere.
Opportunity does not.
One ball. One coach. One community that believes.

No child is ever excluded because of money. Equipment and transport support are provided so every young person can participate with dignity.
